Looking for Boys, Girls, and Coaches interested in participating in the

Richmond-Perrine Optimist Club’s Baseball Program!!!

Richmond Giants Baseball

In 1972 the Richmond Perrine Optimist Club started its baseball program. The people responsible were Tom Brown and Edward Hanna. Tom Brown coached the youth 6 to 12 years of age and Edward Hanna coached the youth 13 to 18 years old age.  Edward Hanna was the commissioner for 10 years.

After Edward Hanna resigned from being the commissioner for baseball, Mr. Omar Hassen started the baseball program back after three years of not having any volunteers to coach or be over the program. Omar Hassen continued the program for 12 years. While he was commissioner, he also coached two baseball teams. Mr. Hassen kept the baseball program going doing a time when no one was willing to volunteer to keep the program going.

After Omar Hassen had been commissioner for 12 years, he was able to get Charles Rackley to come out to coach a team and while he was coaching Omar asked Charles to be the commissioner. Charles Rackley accepted the position of being the baseball commissioner for the Richmond Optimist Club. Charles has been the commissioner since Mr. Hassen resigned as baseball commissioner.

Presently, the baseball season operate from April to July. Our age groups are 5 to 7, 8 to 9, 10 to 12 and 13 to 14 years old. We accept volunteers and all volunteers must pass a background check before they can be accepted as a coach.

Season starts in January 2022 and runs thru May 2022!
