Counseling

Parent/Support Program

This program was implemented in 2004 to provide parenting skills training to families with children ages 0-5 who reside in high-risk public housing developments in South Miami-Dade and other neighborhoods where public housing is located.  This program provides Parenting Specialists and Linkpersons to provide parenting training, assessments and support services.  The target areas are Perrine Gardens, Southridge I & II, Arthur Mays Villas, Naranja H.U.D., Modello H.U.D. and Homestead Gardens.  This program is funded by The Children’s Trust.

Parenting and Preservation Program

This program was implemented in 2004 to target at-risk families in the Richmond Heights, Perrine, South Miami Heights, Goulds, Cutler ridge, Naranja and Leisure City communities.  The Agency solicits referrals from the Department of children and Families, community organizations, churches and Department of Law Enforcement.  The program has a Parenting Skills Specialist who provides in-home individual and group parent training sessions and a Link person who will provide assessments and support services as needed.  This program was funded by the  Miami-Dade Department of Human Services.

Summer Camp Reading Program

This program was implemented in 2004 and serves West Perrine in two locations and Arthur Mays Villas Housing Development in Goulds. The program operates during the summer months and serves children between the ages of 5 to 12, who are referred by parents, schools and other agencies. 

This program provides a safe, secure environment where participants receive daily reading activities, physical fitness, social skills, fun and incentive activities and nutritional food. This program is funded by The Children’s Trust which is a dedicated source of revenue established by voter referendum to improve the lives of children and families in Miami-Dade County. 

The After School House Program

This program was implemented in 2004 to provide after school activities for youth. Youth are provided tutoring, homework assistance, daily reading and physical fitness activities as well as monthly field trips. The target population is youth Grades K-6th grades who reside in high risk public housing neighborhoods in South Miami-Dade. This program is funded by The Children’s Trust. The Children’s Trust is a dedicated source of revenue established by voter referendum to improve the lives of children and families in Miami-Dade County. 

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

Perrine Crime Prevention Program

This program was originally implemented in 1977. The program works with delinquent and pre-delinquent youth in the West Perrine area that are referred by the police, courts, juvenile authorities, schools, parents and others. This program provides Individual Counseling, Group Counseling, Work Experience, Basic Education, Homework Assistance, and Employability Skills Training. This program is funded by the Miami-Dade County. 

Naranja Youth Enterprises South (Y.E.S.) Program

This program was implemented in 1988 in the Naranja Housing Project. The program works with delinquent and pre-delinquent youth in the Naranja area that is referred by the police, courts, juvenile authorities, schools, parents and others. This program is funded by the United Way of Miami-Dade County. 

Goulds Youth Development Program

This program also works with delinquent and pre-delinquent youth in the Goulds area that are referred by the police, courts, juvenile authorities, schools, parents and others. Modello/South Dade Neighborhood Empowerment Program

This program was implemented in 1987. The program provides Counseling, Tutoring, Recreation, and other activities to Public Housing Project Youth who have been referred by the Public School System, juvenile authorities, the police department, and others. It is fund-ed by the Miami-Dade County. 

Employment and Training

Work Experience Program

This program was originally implemented in 2002; it pro-vides year round work experience to youth who are ages 14-18 that reside in the Goulds and Perrine focus areas. Prior to being placed on a worksite, participants receive Employability Skills Training. This program is funded by Miami-Dade County. 

organized athletics program

The program was originally implemented in 1971. The program provides an Organized Athletics Program in the areas of Football, Cheerleading, Baseball, and Basketball.
